First Work Zone Vehicle to be launched by CDOT
Finally, CDOT stepped forward to take a major step for the safety of road construction crew. They flashed the launch of the work-zone vehicle to grant safety to the crew. CDOT with its partners disclosed the AIPV without a driver actually in charge of the steering wheel during a show in Fort Collins, Colorado.
CDOT and its partners at Colas UK, Royal Truck & Equipment and Kratos Defence and Security solutions have launched the vehicles with rear-mounted actuators that absorb and divert vehicles that move into the work zone.
According to CEO of CDOT, Shailen Bhatt, “Just in the last four years, there have been 26 incidents where a member of the traveling public struck a CDOT impact protection vehicle — that’s almost seven per year.”
