Vodacom Undergoes A Global Rebranding To Welcome Driverless Technology
With a “Vision 2020” set in mind, Vodacom; South Africa’s largest network operator is undergoing a rebranding process to include everything digital, as it looks to tap into new business streams. The current rebranding strategy includes a new logo design, alongside a new tagline: The future is exciting, ready!
The project is a part of the company’s aspiration to be the leading digital company by moving beyond connecting people to connecting everything. The whole process opens up new business streams for the operator, where the focus is primarily to adapt to the changing technological scenarios. With the voice revenue being under pressure off late, data is all set to make up for more than half of Vodacom’s earnings.
Driverless vehicles are a big opportunity for us, alongside that content – music and movies, is also a big opportunity, with sports also a potential revenue stream within the mobile space.
Chief officer for Vodacom business unit, Nyimpini Mabunda stated that, future business potential is unlimited and it includes driverless vehicles. Vodacom is already working with BMW, with Mabunda adding that partnerships will be a big composition of the business going forward.
