New Ford CEO Discusses His Approach Towards The Changing Automobile Market

On May 2017, Ford announced that it had replaced its CEO, Mark Fields, who had been with the company since 1989, with Jim Hackett. Since then, Hackett has overseen quiet a few initiatives that point the way to better days for Ford  including, Edison – an internal group tasked with building electric vehicles that may rival Tesla in more than just name. It has also forged partnerships in autonomy, like Lyft and Dominos, to figure out how consumers will use and interact with self-driving vehicles.
Mr Hackett believes that it is a big opportunity rather than a challenge for the automobile sector, to realize the potential of computing technology. The reliance of companies on the various segments like network business, software, chip building etc brings together a group of partners jointly working to realize this big dream.
As Ford faces challenges from Google, Apple and other nonauto companies, Hackett said he is preparing Ford so it doesn’t get caught off guard. He also stated that, Ford will aim ahead of where it has to be, betting on technology and propulsion systems that may make better business sense in the future than they do now. Considering that as the “far” part of his bull’s-eye.
