GM To Overtake Its Competitors In The Production Of Autonomous Cars
With a market that is now surfaced by a number of autonomous car manufacturers, it might be General Motors (GM) that would beat the rest to the production of such cars. This was confirmed through a blog post where, GM’s CEO of Cruise Automation, Kyle Vogt, says that his team has created the “world’s first mass-producible car designed to operate without a driver.”
Vogt also explained that the car is not just any concept model, but a fully-made automobile with “airbags, crumple zones and comfortable seats.” GM also has a high-volume plant that can make hundreds of thousands of vehicles per year. The latest production models are the third generation of autonomous cars by GM. They also a fleet of self-driving systems that operates via a mobile ride-hailing app in San Francisco.
In short, GM is ready to make self-driving cars at scale as soon as the software and regulations are up to par.
