Google’s Waymo Conducts Simulations with High-Resolution Models of Real Cities

When you’re working on a big a project its almost impossible at times to not let the cat out of the bag, but things are pretty different at Google’s Waymo center which had some interesting news over the last couple of weeks. The Atlantic‘s Alexis Madrigal, had some hot news revealing important details about Waymo’s extensive infrastructure for testing self-driving cars.
According to Madrigal, 2 of Waymo projects haven’t been made public before. One of which, is an extensive virtual city in California, named Castle. At Castle, simulations and tests are conducted under a “structured testing” program. Here they carve the spaces they need into the earth at Castle, which lets them run thousands of different scenarios in situ.
