Ferrari Ready To Take On Tesla With Its Version Of An Electric Supercar

The whole world watched when Tesla recently unveiled the Tesla Roadster, and one among them was Ferrari’s CEO Sergio Marchionne. After years of taking a strong stance against electric vehicles, the Italian stalwart has finally embraced the electric car revolution. In a statement during the 2018 Detroit Auto Show, he announced that the iconic automaker is going to release the world’s “first” electric supercar.
Over the past few years, Marchionne has been known to make waves in the auto industry by describing cars like the Tesla Model S as “obscene” due to their lack of engine noise — something he believes has to be present in a true supercar. He further went on to make claims saying that he does not understand how anyone can make money selling electric cars other than to comply with government mandates.
But in a recent twist of events, this is what the Marchionne had to say-

If there is an electric supercar to be built, then Ferrari will be the first. People are amazed at what Tesla did with a supercar: I’m not trying to minimize what Elon did, but I think it’s doable by all of us.

Pretty exciting times are poised ahead for the neutral, as it would be a treat to watch the old school heavy weight champion take on the famed Eon Musk and his Tesla.
