Automotive Startup Zoox Lures Engineers From Apple Inc

A latest inside report from Bloomberg, revealed that a total of 17 engineers working on Apple’s Project Titan have left for automotive startup Zoox. The decision came after Apple’s CEO Tim Cook revealed that the company would now rather focus on building advanced autonomous tech than build a fully autonomous car itself. The plan here is to eventually license out the tech to automakers or for Apple to even resurrect pursuits of building out its own car in the future.
The 17 engineers that left comprised of braking and suspension engineers who prior to joining Apple, worked for a number of Detroit automakers.
The company that Apple’s vehicle engineers have departed to- Zoox, is focused on building autonomous technologies itself. The company remains in stealth mode but has raised $290 million in funding to support its endeavors.
